The Foodie's Cheatsheet to Taipei - Dongmen

Are you traveling to Taipei soon but don't know where to eat and go? Are you sick of going to the restaurants listed on the travel books (tourist traps) and eating only okay food? Been there, done that. 

When I first came to New York, I went to Katz Delicatessen because it was listed as one of the must-eat in the city. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, which was served cold with an over-whelming amount of beef pastrami. No lettuce or tomato, just some pickles. This is absolutely a no-no for me. First of all, my stomach had already turned cold when I saw the sandwich un-toasted. My asian stomach likes the sandwich warm and toasted. Second of all, the all-too-much pastrami makes the sandwich so salty that it made me feel like if I finish the whole thing, I will mostly get kidney failure. Lastly, because of the lack of the lettuce and tomato to balance the meat, all the bites tasted same and boring. I feel empty and grumpy after coming out of the restaurant. And that's one of the worst things for me when I'm traveling.

I hope that this doesn't happen to anyone when they visit Taipei, so I curated a list of restaurants I'd personally go to when I'm in the area. There is so much delicious food to eat in Taipei and every bite should be mind-blowingly good. At least, this is what I think every time I go back. Check it out if you are going to Taipei soon!
